Abide ("we," "our," or "us") is an AI-powered Bible companion built to help you grow in faith through Scripture guidance, prayer journaling, and daily spiritual rhythms. We take your privacy seriously — especially the privacy of your personal prayer life.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use Abide at abidehisword.com. By using Abide, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password via Supabase Auth. You may also provide optional profile information such as your Christian tradition preference, which shapes how Abide responds to your questions.
Your prayer journal entries, answered prayer records, notes, and reading plan progress are stored in your account. This data is private to you by default and is protected by row-level security (RLS) in our database — meaning only your authenticated session can access it.
When you ask a Bible question or interact with Abide's AI companion, the content of your message is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a Scripture-grounded response. Conversation threads are saved to your account so you can return to them. See the AI & Third-Party Services section below for details on how Anthropic handles this data.
We may collect basic, non-personal usage information — such as pages visited, features used, and session length — to understand how Abide is used and improve the experience. This data is not linked to your prayer journal or personal content.
If you subscribe to Premium, your payment is processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details. Stripe handles all payment processing and security on our behalf.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not use your prayer journal data or personal conversations to train AI models. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
Abide uses Anthropic's Claude API to provide Scripture guidance and Bible responses. When you send a message to Abide's companion, the content of your question is transmitted to Anthropic's API to generate a response. Anthropic's use of this data is governed by their API usage policies and privacy practices. Your prayer journal entries and other personal data stored in Abide are not shared with Anthropic.
Your account, prayer journal, conversation history, and preferences are stored in a Supabase PostgreSQL database. Supabase uses row-level security (RLS) to ensure your data is only accessible to your authenticated account. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II compliant and uses industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit.
Premium subscriptions are processed through Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. When you subscribe, you interact directly with Stripe's secure payment interface. We never have access to your raw payment card data.
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties, except in the following limited circumstances:
Your prayer life is deeply personal. Here is our commitment to you:
Your prayer journal entries are private to your account by default and protected by row-level security — only your authenticated session can access them.
We do not read, analyze, or share the contents of your personal prayers. Your prayer data is never used to train AI models.
Community prayer wall posts are visible to other Abide users — only post what you are comfortable sharing with your group.
You can view all your prayer journal entries, answered prayers, conversation threads, and saved notes within the Abide app at any time.
You can delete individual journal entries, prayers, or conversation threads at any time within the app. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at abide.bible.companion@gmail.com. We will process account deletion requests promptly.
You can update your email address, tradition preference, and other account settings within the app at any time.
If you cancel your Premium subscription, your prayer journal and all other personal data remain fully intact. The free tier includes unlimited prayer journaling — Premium adds AI features and study tools on top.
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data:
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at abide.bible.companion@gmail.com.
Abide is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
